A very well-known & famous temple in Bhadrachalam is the Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple. According to Hindu legend, in the Treta Yuga, Rama (an avatar of the god Vishnu), along with his consort Sita and brother Lakshmana, stayed in the Dandaka forest as a part of their fourteen-year exile.


Rama turned Bhadra into a hillock; the images of the deities in the same postures manifested at its summit. The hillock was called Bhadrachalam or Bhadradri ("Bhadra's hill").

Parnasala is a famous village located in the Khammam district of Telangana, India situated 32km away from Bhadrachalam with an elevation of about 55 Mts.


It was believed that in the 14th year of exile Lord Rama, his wife, and brother Lakshman had stayed in this village.


4. Abhaya Anjaneya Temple

Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, this temple is a recent addition to the list of religious centers in the town. It is one of the most visited temples, by both tourists and locals.

The highlight of the temple is said to be the sculptures here, which though crafted by cement, appear as though made of wood, adding beauty to the entire temple.


5. Sabari



Dhammakka, also known as Sabari was a tribal woman and a great devotee of Lord Rama.

Lord Rama granted her salvation & blessed her to become a river now called Sabari which joins the Godavari before merging into the sea.

Originating from the western slopes of the Eastern Ghats in Odisha state from the Sinkaram hill ranges at 1370m, it forms a common boundary between Chattisgarh and Odisha
